Job Title & Description: Electrical Engineer

This role is an opportunity to take charge of a product launch and scale up, from an electrical and manufacturing perspective. Ekidna Sensing has a functional prototype of our potency testing platform, but is now in the process of scaling this platform up for wide scale market adoption. The successful individual will be take ownership of the electrical system, and focus on continued design iteration with scale up in mind while ensuring electrical performance meets our sensitive specs. We are looking for a hands-on individual who is excited to be involved in many aspects of the company, as being a small team, you must wear many hats. Involvement in R&D, participation in customer pilot trials, and IP generation are just a few examples of the opportunities Ekidna can offer the successful candidate.

We have developed a rapid, accurate, and portable cannabis testing solution to help licensed producers eliminate production bottlenecks, reduce operational costs, and bring their products to market faster.   • Electronic design, including PCB layout and component selection
  • Transfer designs to large scale outsourced manufacturers
  • Design and test precision electrical instrumentation
  • Design, perform, and author test protocols and technical reports
  • Design and test manufacturing protocols
  • Work with microcontrollers and firmware
  • Interact closely with R&D team as well as software team to bring product to market



  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering/technologist or other relevant degree
  • Experience sourcing electrical and mechanical components
  • Experience designing and assembling PCB’s
  • Experience working with test equipment
  • Experience with some of C, C#, C++ and Python
  • Understanding of device level communications
  • Knowledge of I2C and serial communications
  • Knowledge of precision instrument design is an asset
  • Experience with electrochemistry is an asset
  • Familiar with microprocessors, embedded firmware, digital and analog circuits
  • Experience with Assembly is an asset
